A 4kW fiber amplifier with good beam quality employing confined-doped gain fiber

Abstract

A confined-doped ytterbium gain fiber was tested in a tandem-pump fiber amplifier. The fiber achieved an output power of 4.1kW and M2=1.59, with optical efficiency of 84% and no sign of rollover at maximum power.
