Abstract

A high peak-power and narrow linewidth 1.5 μm fiber gas Raman source is demonstrated for the first time. An ethane-filled hollow-core fiber is pumped with a 1064 nm microchip laser, generating 1553 nm pulses of about 400 kW peak-power and 7.5 GHz linewidth, by stimulated Raman scattering of ethane.
