Abstract

We present the nonlinear compression of pulses from a high repetition rate thulium-doped fiber laser system in the 2 µm wavelength region using a nitrogen-gas-filled hollow-core capillary. Pulses shorter than 50 fs with more than 3 GW of pulse peak power and 15.4 W of average power have been achieved. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of this laser source, a HHG experiment generating photon energies beyond 150 eV has been performed in an Ar gas jet.
