Dissipative solitons operation in a diode pumped Yb: GdYSiO5 oscillator

Abstract

We experimentally investigated a diode pumped Yb:GdYSiO5 (Yb:GYSO) laser operating in the positive dispersion regime. Strongly chirped pulses with particularly steep spectral edges obtained indicated that the laser is in dissipative soliton (DS) operation.
