Saturable absorber Cr4+:(Sr,Ca)Gd4(SiO4)3O crystals as Q-switches for diode pumped Nd3+:KGd(WO4)2 laser

Abstract

Passive Q-switching of a diode-pumped Nd3+:KGd(WO4)2 laser was demonstrated using SrGd4(SiO4)3O and CaGd4(SiO4)3O crystals as saturable absorbers. The average output power of 40 mW was obtained with pulse repetition rate of~0.4 MHz.
