Abstract

Cr2+:CdSe samples with transverse Cr2+ concentration gradients were used to determine optimum concentration for pulsed laser performance. Beyond the optimum concentration, scattering degrades laser performance. An optimized resonator produced 320 mW at 2.6-µm with 38% incident and 50% absorbed power conversion efficiency.
