Abstract

We demonstrate a new kind of pulsed UV source using a diode-pumped passively-Q-switched microchip laser and a very efficient passive multipass amplifier. We obtained 45-kHz-repetition-rate, 500-ps pulses with an energy per pulse of 11.3 µJ at 1064 nm. After non-linear conversion, we obtained 45-kHz, 290-ps, 0.84-µJ pulses in the UV at 355 nm.
