Abstract

We have made a spectroscopic evaluation of several oxide crystals as potential visibly pumped, visible emitting laser materials. Pr:La2Lu3Ga3O12 is of interest for its relatively long 3P0 fluorescence lifetime. Among hosts for Tm3+, many suffer prohibitive concentration quenching but Ca5(PO4)3F and Sr5(P04)3F are promising.
