Abstract

The crystallization features of RSc3(BO3)4 (R=La,Ce,Gd) compounds in two polytype modifications: C2/c and R32 have been studied. The spectroscopic properties of such single crystals, doped with Nd3+ ; Yb3+; Er3+ and Cr3+ have been measured. The single crystals of (Ce,Gd)Sc3(BO3)4 for frequency doubling, frequency-self-doubling and OPO have been obtained for the first time. It is shown, that single crystals of RSc3(BO3)4 have unique combination of properties to make efficient diode-pumped minilasers.
