Abstract

We discuss two methods for achieving high energy, diffraction limited beams with controlled beam profile. Variable reflectivity resonators are an attractive solutions, although diffraction effects have to be carefully taken into account when designing the resonator. The new concept of Fourier Transform Resonator allows the generation of high energy, flat profile beam with minimum divergence.
