Simple Model of the Mars Observer Laser Altimeter Laser Transmitter

Abstract

The Mars Observer Laser Altimeter utilizes a space qualified diode laser pumped Q-switched Nd:YAG laser transmitter. We present a simple numerical model of the laser energetics predicting the pulse energy, pulse width and temperature dependence.
