Crystal Growth and Spectroscopic Properties of U3+:LiYF4

Abstract

Trivalent uranium-doped LiYF4 crystals have been grown and evaluated as potential diode- pumped lasers. Strong fluorescence in the range of 2.1 - 2.6 μm has been measured with a 170 μs lifetime.
