Performance of a Cr4+:YAG Laser in the Near Infrared

Abstract

We report the tunable laser performance of Cr:YAG longitudinally pumped by a 1.064 Nd:YAG laser.[l] It is believed that the laser active center is a tetrahedrally coordinated Cr4+ ion, although a final identification has yet to be made. Fig. 1 shows the spectrum of the free running output, with lasing occuring between 1.41 µm and 1.49 µm.
