Abstract

An extensive discussion of Nd:YAG single longitudinal mode (SLM) lasers has been undertaken by Danielmeyer in 1976. Results of the first diode pumped SLM Nd: YAG laser in the milliwatt range were published in 19853. In the same year the same group4 introduced a monolithic ring laser (MISER) which was pumped by an Ar+-Ion laser. A further improvement of the MISER4 was renamed SUNPRO5 which was diode pumped and had a bandwidth of < 3 kHz.
