Abstract

This paper describes a research program being carried out by Spectra Technology, Inc. (STI) for Sandia National Laboratory (SNL). This 1.5 M$ laboratory research program incorporates four Ti:Sapphire amplifiers generating output energies of 40-160 mJ ranging in wavelength from 765 nm to 810 nm. These amplifiers are pumped with a train (30 pulses spaced 10 nsec) of 100-psec mode-locked pulses generated from a stable oscillator power amplifier configuration. This arrangement provides excellent pump beam quality and energy densities of 2-4 J/cm2.
