Titanium doped Sapphire (Ti:Al2O3) is a promising candidate for an efficient broadly tunable solid state laser source. The utility of Ti:Al2O3 was first pointed out by Moulton [1] and has since been studied at several other facilities [2]. Efficient operation is critically dependent upon the quality of the laser material. Until recently, few samples of high grade material with low loss coefficients were available. In this paper we show the laser performance of various samples along with their respective transmission spectra.
