Torsion sensors based on Pre-twisted in-fiber Long period fiber gratings

Abstract

We demonstrated a novel CO2-laser based long period fiber grating by periodically twisting the SMF to introduce a pre-twist strain for each point. The new structure exhibits very high torsion sensitivity of 17.9 nm/(rad/cm).
