Abstract

Colloidal quantum dots, with size-tuned bandgaps and ready fabrication from solution-phase dispersions into solid films, are attracting much interest in solar energy harvesting. They offer the prospect of low-cost, high-efficiency devices. In this work we present a review of colloidal quantum dot photovoltaics, emphasizing recent advancements in the development of device architectures, materials engineering, and mutli-junction configurations in pursuit of high-efficiency solar cells on low-cost platforms for eventual deployment in commercial applications.
