Abstract
Mid-infrared glasses and fibers are non-silica materials, whose transparency extends well beyond 3 µm in the infrared. They belong to two families: fluorides and chalcogenides. This paper deals with the latest results in the field of chalcogenide glasses and fibers for infrared photonics, including light sources, photonic crystal fibers, and biosensors.
