Abstract

Laser based additive manufacturing of metal parts has opened the path to embedding fiber optic sensors that withstand the harshness of the process and applications, since the technique allows many degrees of freedom. As a promising solution laser cladding based embedding of metal coated fiber optics into which Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors have been written are presented in this paper.
