PAM4 Underwater Optical Communication Enhanced by Holographic Beam Shaping

Abstract

This paper demonstrated a 200 Mbps underwater optical communication based on PAM4 modulation over 25 meters. The performance of the data communication was significantly improved by a holographic optical launching unit that can be reconfigured for different link distances.
