Abstract

Directly modulated active-distributed-reflector distributed feedback (ADR-DFB) laser integrated with an easy-to-fabricate spot size converter (SSC) is demonstrated, which realizes 3-dB modulation bandwidth ~19 GHz and nearly spherical mode spot.
