Design and Fabrication of a Mode Mismatching Photonic Lantern for Coupling from a Multi-mode Fiber to Single-mode Fibers

Abstract

We propose a mode mismatching photonic lantern (MMPL) with a large taper ratio and short taper length that can satisfy adiabatic condition easily. The MMPL can effectively couple power from hundreds multi-mode to several single-modes.
