Abstract

This paper proposes and demonstrates a novel MIMO equalization algorithm to suppress the crosstalk between different modes in the space division multiplexing (SDM) transmission system. Improved convergence speed and steady state error are demonstrated in the simulation platform. Compared with traditional MIMO equalization, the proposed method improves the optical signal-to-noise ratio (OSNR) about 3dB at the FEC threshold value of 1e-3.
