Carrier Fading Mitigation Using Phase Modulation Based Partial Depolarization for Self-Coherent System

Abstract

We propose novel approach using partial depolarization to resist carrier fading in a self-coherent system. The scheme is experimentally verified in 224Gb/s PDM-16QAM system with 10 kHz rotation of SOP after 5 km SSMF transmission.
