Experimental demonstration of Volterra based MIMO nonlinear equalizer for IM/DD MDM transmission

Abstract

We demonstrate an IM/DD degenerate MDM transmission system experimentally. A LMS-Volterra based MIMO NLE is applied and the BER performance can be improved by about one order of magnitude at the ROP of -9 dBm.
