Abstract

A novel and simple optical fiber bending sensor based on tilted fiber Bragg grating (TFBG) with wavelength demodulation method is proposed. The sensor’s performances are investigated and controlled by detecting of mode wavelength shift between the compressed cladding modes and the uncompressed cladding modes during bending. It is demonstrated that the sensors have a measurement range of 0 -17 m-1 and the sensitivity is -0.171 nm / m-1.
