Broadband five-mode (de)multiplexer with horizontal tapered directional couplers

Abstract

We design and fabricate a five-mode (de)multiplexer consisted of four cascaded horizontal tapered uneven directional couplers. Our typical fabricated device shows an average mode selectivity of > 15.9 dB for all five modes over the C+L band.
