Ultra-Low Loss Fiber Technologies

Abstract

Ultra-low loss fibers, enabled by reduced Rayleigh scattering, benefit the submarine transmission by reducing the number of repeaters and improving the spectral efficiency. They are also applicable to capacity expansion by spatial division multiplexing.
