Abstract

Two-photon scanning by femtosecond laser on subcellular microregions can induce long-duration Ca2+ increase. The wavelength-dependent spectrum of Ca2+ activation probability suggests endogenous photoactivable molecules which proved to be flavin. Thereby a new all-optical method for photoactivation of cellular Ca2+ can be developed.
