Monolithically integrated chirp-managed laser (CML) based on a resonant tunneling optical spectrum reshaper filter

Abstract

We have presented a monolithically integrated chirp-managed laser (CML) consists of a conventional directly modulated laser and a resonant tunneling based optical filter. Simulation results show that the proposed 25G 1.55 μm CML can send signal over 20 and 26 km standard single mode fiber for bit error rate of 10−13 and 10−5, respectively.
