Abstract

A rib waveguide with unequal slab thicknesses, called J-rib waveguide, is proposed as a mode-division demultiplexer. 3D FDTD simulation of the proposed device is performed. Low insertion loss, low crosstalk, and wide bandwidth are achieved.
