Effective Mode Field Diameter Definition and Splice Loss Estimation of LP11 Mode in Few Mode Fibers

Abstract

We propose a definition of the effective mode field diameter (MFD) of LP11 mode in few mode fibers (FMFs). The splice loss between LP11 modes is successfully estimated by the MFD and a correction factor.
