Computational Investigation of THz Surface Plasmon Modulation with Optical Injection of Free Carriers

Abstract

Optical modulation of terahertz surface plasmons propagating in the surface of semiconductors is investigated. The modulation bandwidth is estimated to be in GHz order, thus leading to the possibility of communication applications using the THz baseband.
