Abstract
Two kinds of silicon waveguides (strip and slot ones) are studied and compared in the nonlinear picosecond pulse domain. Numerical modelling is applied under several nonlinear optical conditions including self-phase modulation, two photon absorption and its consequent free carrier effects. Interesting trends are then deduced in order to minimize the influence of the Two Photon Absorption process.
