Abstract

This paper reviews current architectural solutions (GNMS, E-NNI, PCE, etc.) for multi-domain heterogeneous networks, and indicates their advantages and disadvantages. To overcome their shortcomings, novel software defined optical network (SDON) architectures are envisaged.
