Abstract

This paper presents a convergent wired-wireless architecture that provides Gigabit fixed and radio access. The main novelty from the architecture perspective is the development of an Active Remote Node that takes advantage of the required powering at RBS to provide intermediate aggregation for fixed subscribers. With the development of an advanced Control and Management Plane, the network supports Open Access operation and advanced OAM, which allows multiple Service Providers to efficiently share the access architecture while supporting fixed and mobile transport services.
