Low Power-consuming Variable Optical Attenuator with a Reflective Mach-Zehnder Interferometer on Silicon

Abstract

A novel low power-consuming variable optical attenuator (VOA) on silicon is demonstrated by using a reflective Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI). The power consumption is only 10.8mW to achieve an extinction ratio as high as 35.5dB.
