Abstract

In this paper, we propose to use radio over fiber (RoF) technology in smart metering systems which can make full use of the fiber resources laid by power companies and expand the coverage through wireless signal. In the demo experiments, a RoF-based smart metering system with commercial smart meter and developed software is successfully demonstrated.
