Compact and low-loss optical 90° hybrid based on silicon-on-insulator

Abstract

A compact optical 90° hybrid is proposed and demonstrated on silicon-on-insulator. High performance over C-band is demonstrated experimentally with excess loss less than 0.5dB and phase deviation better than 5°.
