Dark states ultra-long fiber laser (UFL) for practically secure key distribution

Abstract

We demonstrate a new UFL key distribution system which quenches lasing process in its secure states, providing enhanced security. Ranges of 500km with bit-rates of 0.5kbps are feasible. Spectral/temporal attack strategies are analyzed in details.
