Abstract

A widely tunable semiconductor laser based on double half-wave-coupled rectangular ring resonators is designed and simulated. By employing the Vernier effect between the rectangular ring resonators, a large tuning range of 40nm is achieved, while the corresponding threshold gain difference and the SMSR is 4.5cm−1 and 46dB, respectively.
