Linear and Nonlinear Optical Absorption of on-chip Silicon-on-insulator Nanowires with Graphene

Abstract

Silicon-on-insulator (SOI) nanowires with a single-layer graphene are fabricated and characterized. The propagation losses of TE- and TM- polarization modes are measured. Nonlinear absorption effect introduced by the graphene is also observed.
