Add-Drop Filter with Asymmetric Vertical Gratings in Silicon-on-Insulator Rib Waveguides

Abstract

We demonstrate an add-drop filter based on grating-assisted contradirectional couplers in silicon-on-insulator rib waveguides. A narrow drop-port bandwidth of 1 nm has been achieved experimentally and thermal tunability of the device is also proposed.
