Splicing Optical Microfibers via Polymer Nanowires

Abstract

We demonstrate a general approach to splice microfibers via polymer nanowire. Mach-Zehnder interferometer assembled using this technique functions in air and water. The approach promises potential applications in micro-optics integration and sensing.
