Abstract

A 1.15-mm-diameter close-loop ring resonator is fabricated by fusion splicing a 4-μm-diameter microfiber. When immersed in a 6 wt.% glycerin aqueous solution, the fusion spliced microfiber ring resonator exhibits good resonance at 1.6-μm-wavelength with a Q-factor of about 23000 and an extinction of 15 dB.
