Three-Dimensional Optical Metamaterials with Magnetic Hyperbolic Dispersion

Abstract

We measure the topological transition between the elliptic and hyperbolic dispersion in a multilayer fishnet metamaterial. In the hyperbolic regime, we demonstrate enhancement of thermal emission, which becomes directional, coherent and polarized.
