Comparison of the Fluorescence Sensing Performance of Microstructured Optical Fibres and Multi-mode Fibre Tips

Abstract

We examine the fluorescence sensing efficiency of suspended-core fibres (SCFs), and multi-mode fibres (MMFs). Theoretical and experimental results show that the SCFs display a consistently higher signal than MMFs with equivalent conditions.
