Study of Thermal Effect in Single Layer Graphene based Optical Modulators

Abstract

We estimate the thermal effect in single layer graphene and its potential use in thermally activated optical modulators. We show it to be significant in devices based on evanescent field coupling, while in normal-incidence regime it is negligible.
