Abstract

A slope efficiency of 51% at a wavelength of 3.04 μm is achieved by direct excitation of the 6H13/2 level of the Dy ion using 2.8 μm emission from an Er:ZBLAN fiber laser. Increase in fiber length results in a maximum emission wavelength of 3.26 μm.
